Land Register - Hellenic Cadastre

Every property in Greece is entered in the Greek Land Register. Every Land Registry Office has jurisdiction for specific municipalities.

The law introducing “Ktimatologio” switched the previous name-based registers to a property-based Land Registry system. As this conversion has not yet taken place throughout Greece, this means that in some regions the Land Registers continue to be kept according to person (Ipothikofilakio).

The Hellenic Cadastre is a system of information in which the legal details of the real estate properties and the rights on them are recorded. Its aim is to ensure absolute publicity and security of transactions.

The development of Cadastre at a region is defined as the procedure of recording the real estate property or other registrable rights. There is strict deadline for the owners to register their property. In the opposite scenario, you lose your property, which will eventually be transferred to the Greek State. So, a lawyer is necessary in Greece to take care of all your issues. At www.ktimatologio.gr you can see all the areas where Cadastre already operates, you can get informed about when the collection of cadastral survey declarations begin in the remaining areas and you can see all the deadlines.
